A Special Thank You to all of our Sponsiors and Donors
Alfa Potlatch 2005 27th 31st July 2005
A resounding success! Thank you
The Northwest Alfa Romeo Club is extremely grateful to you as one its’ sponsors, or donors for all the help you gave to allow us to put on this year’s Alfa Romeo Owners Club National Convention in Seattle.
This was one of the best attended conventions, with over six hundred registrations and then untold additional members of the public coming out to see the Time Trials and Concours, d’Elegance. We even had conventioneers visiting from as far a field as the Netherlands, France, Australia and New Zealand.
There were many highlights during the convention. We were fortunate enough not only to visit some of the best car collections in the world, but then have their owners actively participate in both our track and concours events, showing off pre-war and special racing Alfas. We really are lucky to be blessed with some of the most wonderful automobiles in this part of North America. Other events abounded from Art Shows to Rallys, to Technical sessions to Country Tours to the Suds ‘n Suds car wash event. All were memorable and all were fun. Our Potlatch Banquet not only included our special and excellent speaker Burt Levy, but also a traditional Northwest American Indian blessing offered by the Tulalip Tribe, likening our Alfa Romeo cars to their sacred Indian canoes. This conjured up a wonderful image to act as a splendid metaphor for our whole Convention.
One of the major themes of our convention was the Potlatch, or the “Giving” part of this coming together of Alfisti. We raffled away a beautiful Alfa Romeo Spider, which had been fully restored by a group of NWARC members and the help and donations of local Alfa repair shops. The lucky winner would be able to drive the car home. A delightful couple from Mississippi won and dutifully changed their travel plans, cancelled their return flights and took on the challenge to drive all the way home. We haven’t heard from them, so we guess they are still enroute facing the challenges daily and wondering if they will ever see Mississippi again.. The real winners from all of this will be the kids at Seattle’s Children’s Hospital who will receive a donation from the Potlatch of almost Eleven Thousand dollars.
Without your help and support none of this would have been possible. Once again, a huge thank you from all of us here at the Northwest Alfa Romeo Club.
